NSW Treasury

News_NSW-The-TreasuryRecently, Watermark Search International partnered with NSW Treasury following a major reform program which resulted in a significant restructure of the Department and creation of five new leadership positions within the Fiscal and Economic Group.  The Secretary and Associate Secretary were seeking to create and build a division that provided the best possible economic and fiscal advice to the government for the people in NSW.  The new positions were:

  • Executive Director, Economic Policy
  • Executive Director, Economic Forecasting and Revenue Analysis
  • Executive Director, Financial Management Transformation
  • Executive Director, Fiscal Estimates and Financial Reporting
  • Executive Director, Budget Strategy

All five positions were graded at the SES 4 level in NSW, which is equivalent to the SES 2 salary band in the Commonwealth. Each role was highly specialised, requiring candidates with significant technical expertise as well as a track record in leadership and change.  Watermark ran an extensive domestic and international search to identify and attract leaders who were considered experts in the Fiscal and Economic field in the public and private sector.

Within a defined timeframe, Watermark delivered a strong short-list of candidates which resulted in the successful appointment into all five roles.  Of the successful candidates, three were based in Australia (two from Canberra, one from Sydney) and two were based offshore, one of whom had not previously worked in Australia.
