Increased demand in executive interim sector spurs growth

Martin SearleThe appointment of Martin Searle, new Partner at Watermark Search International, reflects growing demand in executive interim management business.

“Martin Searle joins the business to help resource the growth spurt we continue to see in the use of executive interim managers in Australia,” said Oleh Butchatsky, Managing Partner Watermark Search International.

Mr Butchatsky said the sector had experienced strong demand post GFC and he expected this to continue in 2014 as the use of interim executives has become part of the mainstream culture of recruitment in Australia.

Mr Searle joins Watermark with an excellent industry track record, having held a number of senior human resources and professional services positions. He combines strategic human resources experience with industry expertise particularly from the Professional Services, FMCG and Government sectors.

“Martin brings commercial experience to our business together with a sound understanding of the interim value proposition having worked as an interim executive himself,” said Mr Butchatsky.

He joins Watermark Partners Caroline McAuliffe and Danny Hodgson in the firm’s interim business.

Danny Hodgson said Martin’s human resources experience and knowledge of specific industries will strengthen their ability to deliver high calibre interim managers in growing areas such as for professional services bodies.

“More and more businesses are now looking to tactically deploy ‘interim’ executives,” said Mr Hodgson.

Watermark is to publish its fourth annual survey of the Australian interim management marketplace in June 2014 with an early trend expected to show a rise in the percentage of executives making ‘interim’ work their career choice.
