Interim Chief Financial Officer

Interim Chief Financial OfficerThe client:

A high profile State Government Department.

The brief:

We were asked to source an interim to lead the finance function of a high profile State Government Department. It was a sensitive situation as, given the profile of the Department, their finance function was starting to lose the confidence of senior executives. An interim Chief Financial Officer was required to bring immediate leadership, marshal the resources of the finance function more effectively and win back the confidence of the senior management team in terms of the quality, accuracy and timeliness of financial information.

Watermark’s solution:

Whilst being a State Government Department, there was significant interest in seasoned candidates from the private as well as the government sector. Watermark used its networks across both sectors to present a range of candidates, talking to private sector candidates who had not previously considered working in government.

The outcome:

An Interim CFO was appointed from the private sector who met the original deadlines and whose contract was extended by mutual agreement.
