The brief:

Was to find a General Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership to optimise results for the Centre, driving commercial and financial performance, as well as delivering high levels of Indigenous employment and training outcomes.  There was a requirement for the successful candidate to collaborate effectively with the local Indigenous communities, as well as with local industry partners and tour operators, playing a leadership role in the Indigenous tourism sector for the region.

Watermark’s solution:

Our search utilised Watermark’s extensive database and research networks within the tourism sector to source and deliver a high-calibre shortlist of candidates, reflecting the breadth of Watermark Search International’s capacity to reach talented, experienced individuals from the travel and tourism sector.

The outcome:

The successful candidate appointed to the General Manager role had proven his ability to adapt to new environments and to build on a strong base of leadership/management experience.  He had particular expertise in managing tourism efforts in remote areas.  His leadership experience was gained in working in Indigenous tourism, and he had a real passion for achieving outcomes in relation to Indigenous training and employment.
