Responding to an Advertised Position

An initial application to Watermark in relation to an advertised position needs two things:

  • Covering letter
  • CV

Below is a guide, including some templates, providing a simple outline for an application.

Covering Letter

Your one page covering letter should include:

  • Your personal details
  • The reference number for the position
  • A brief statement explaining your interest in, suitability and availability for this specific role

We strongly recommend that your CV is tailored to the specific role you are applying for.

Do I need to address selection criteria in my initial application? Only if specifically requested in the advertisement, alternatively a response may be required at a later stage, in which case we will notify you.

In what format should I submit my application? MS Word format is preferred, PDF is acceptable (please do not send a link to an online document).

How long should my CV be? On average a CV would be between 4-6 pages. There is little point in sending the details of all your articles and speaking engagements at this stage.

Shall I send certificates as proof of education? There is no need to send copies of any certificates at this stage.
