UrbanGrowth NSW has the mandate to be the lead agency in the development and delivery of complex urban renewal projects that contribute to the social and economic development of cities in New South Wales. UrbanGrowth NSW is undertaking a major transformation designed to realign the organisation to fulfil this challenging mandate, involving the creation of three critical leadership roles.

Head of Urban Renewal

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Urban Renewal will be tasked with providing strategic leadership to the Urban Renewal team, as the major contributor to meeting the business objectives of UrbanGrowth NSW. The role will be responsible for achieving excellence in the development of a major portfolio of urban renewal projects, which will encompass project planning, financing and delivery. This will involve partnering with multiple Government agencies and engaging private sector participation in significant urban renewal projects. Candidates will need to have inspiring leadership to articulate a compelling vision for urban renewal, underpinned by a wealth of experience in the strategic planning and delivery of major brownfield infrastructure and urban renewal projects. A deep knowledge of the property development industry and the planning system is required, together with a history of partnering between Government and the private sector on major development projects.

Head of Corporate Affairs

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Corporate Affairs will be responsible for the development of proactive strategies which guide stakeholder engagement, media and communications, building awareness of UrbanGrowth NSW projects and enhancing the reputation of the organisation. The role requires the mapping of the stakeholder and shareholder environment with a view to developing effective stakeholder engagement strategies in an environment of complexity and sensitivity. There will be an emphasis on strategic influencing and messaging within an issues management environment of high visibility and media interest. Candidates will need to have a high level of experience in stakeholder engagement and media communications, with a successful history of developing communication strategies across stakeholder and Government platforms. This experience may have been gained in Government or in industry or consultancy roles entailing exposure to complex and dynamic business issues and extensive Government interaction.

General Manager, Portfolio Management Office

Reporting to the Head of Urban Renewal, the General Manager, Portfolio Management Office will lead the creation of a Portfolio Management Office which will support the planning, development, governance and delivery of UrbanGrowth NSW’s significant program of urban renewal and wholesale development projects. The role will apply best practice principles in developing and maintaining governance standards for project management and be the single “source of truth” for information on projects for both internal and external stakeholders. Candidates will need to have a successful track record in managing a Portfolio Management Office in a complex infrastructure related environment with a history of driving transformational change and innovation to deliver quality outcomes. An expert knowledge of program / project management methodologies and systems is required, with a proven ability to engage key users, industry providers and other stakeholders, in an environment of high demand workload and tight timelines.
