Case Study: The Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine – Chief Executive Officer
The Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) is the peak multidisciplinary society in one of the most rapidly expanding branches of medicine – diagnostic ultrasound. ASUM’s activities span education and training, policy, advocacy and development, as well as providing a broad range of representational member activities and publications.
ASUM sought to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer and retained Watermark in order to do so. Our brief was to source an experienced health professional with high-level strategic leadership capability and political savvy. This needed to be reinforced with capacity to develop the organisation’s marketing strategy and value proposition for a membership which is made up of a diverse group of health and medical professionals, whilst maintaining ASUM as a financially sustainable business and expanding its reach into new markets.
Watermark conducted an in-depth mapping of the not-for-profit health space and identified a shortlist consisting of several highly credible, engaging health professionals. The client appointed a new Chief Executive with a deep understanding of the medical ultrasound world gained from over two decades of experience in the medical industry which, coupled with her calm, engaging manner, strong acumen in management and leadership drawn from her experience managing five large medical practices, has contributed to her successful on-boarding with ASUM.
