The Brief:
The client was looking for a strategic, commercially astute librarian, with a high degree of executive maturity and the ability to contribute broadly across research, teaching and learning and throughout the student learning experience. The Head Librarian needed to be a collaborative relationship builder and create a library at the heart of the campus.
Underpinning our search was the need to identify candidates who had successfully adapted to operating in environments where funding is restricted and competitive, the user and their needs are changing and broad reaching and technological advances mean a fundamental shift in how libraries can connect people with information and ideas.
The Search:
Watermark undertook a comprehensive domestic and international search, approaching individuals within knowledge management in a broad sense encompassing: academics, researchers, archivists, collection management professionals, librarians and information services/management professionals with a focus on data and digital.
The Outcome:
The client interviewed five candidates, three of whom were working overseas and two based in Australia. We conducted three sets of reference checks and assisted the client in offering and gaining acceptance from their preferred candidate.
