Overview: The Strategy, Housing, Infrastructure, and Planning Group at the Department of State Growth is dedicated to driving sustainable economic growth in Tasmania. This Group leads complex, high-impact projects that align growth with infrastructure, housing, and services. This includes Policy, Strategy and Projects, Infrastructure Tasmania, Regional Growth and Planning, Housing Policy, and State Planning.

Position Objective: As Deputy Secretary, you will provide strategic leadership and policy direction, ensuring integrated solutions across all business units. You will offer authoritative advice to the Government on critical projects and strategic issues, playing a pivotal role in planning and delivering key infrastructure projects in Tasmania.

Reporting to the Secretary you will be a key member of the Department’s executive leadership team which provides leadership towards meeting whole of agency and government objectives.

As an experienced senior leader, you have significant skills and experience in providing leadership, strategic direction, fostering collaboration and authoritative advice relevant to the development and delivery of contemporary housing solutions and services, infrastructure and planning services for Government. You will have high level experience in building effective relationships, together with a strong ability to communicate with influence and to work collaboratively to achieved desired outcomes.

Adaptable and pragmatic with demonstrable business acumen, you will be comfortable with demanding timeframes, ambiguity, risk and change. A down to earth, inspiring and contemporary people leader with the ability to grow and develop others who is a role model every day for the departments values, strong ethics and integrity.
