The Department of State Growth is seeking a dynamic and strategic Deputy Secretary to lead the Economic Development Group. This is a unique opportunity to play an integral role in shaping the future of Tasmania's economy and make a lasting impact on its’ communities.
Overview
The Economic Development Group is focused on skills and workforce, jobs, business, industry and investment Trade and International relations and Antarctic Tasmania. The Group plays a key role in the development of targeted initiatives and programs to better connect industry, business, workers and jobs including the important pipeline and pathways to meet industry demand and improve Tasmania’s competitive advantage. This Group also has Board Policy Governance accountability for:
Tasmanian Traineeships and Apprenticeships Committee
Tourism and Hospitality Workforce Advisory Committee
TasTAFE
Keystone Tas (building and construction industry training board)
Reporting to the Secretary you will be a key member of the Department’s executive leadership team which provides leadership towards meeting whole of agency and government objectives. As an experienced senior leader you will initiate and lead whole of government projects and deliver growth objectives for the Government, as well as providing independent and authoritative advice to Ministers on economic, social and political implication of policy directions for the range of portfolios within the Group.
You will have high level experience in building effective relationships, together with a strong ability to communicate with influence and to work collaboratively to achieved desired outcomes. You will need a proven track record in fostering inter-industry collaboration and building strong networks with business and industry communities along with a well-developed project management toolkit.
